ANANCY AND THE MAGIC MIRROR

The Story
Once upon a time, the people in the island of Zazamacka had borrowed lots and lots of money, too much in fact, from the island of Kubbitch. And the time had come when the King of Kubbitch demanded repayment or else. The King of Kubbitch sent word that the money must be paid back by the end of the week or he would take their beautiful Princess Allamanda to marry his son, Prince Hog-plum, and more than that, all their men would come and take away any of the girls in Zazamacka that they wanted.

Zazamacka's only hope would be to find the golden treasure that was hidden on the island. The old story, as told by Allamanda's maid Nanny, said that only one person - a Dummy, knew where to find the gold. Now right there all the time was a Dummy, the very Dummy who could dance so beautifully, and when he did, he made the Princess Allamanda so happy that her eyes shone like ackee seeds.

So, Massa King gave out a proclamation - whosoever could get Dummy to talk, would be rewarded with a portion of the gold and get the hand of his daughter. Anancy and his friend Obeah Man went up and down trying to find the secret of how to get Dummy to talk. But no one could tell them. All this time, Nanny was really the wise one, for she knew that Dummy and the Princess really loved each other and that love could make anything happen.

Nanny told the Princess about a Magic Mirror hidden in the Blue Mountains. If the Princess could get Dummy to look into the mirror, she could get him to speak, so off they went. The Mirror was found and it worked, Dummy was able to speak. Anancy saw his chance to keep the prize for himself so he grabbed Dummy and the mirror.

Back at the Palace, Anancy tried to claim the prize for himself, But Obeah Man got angry and a struggled with Anancy and the Mirror fell and shattered in many pieces. Massa King flew into a temper and accused Dummy of not helping to save Zazamacka. He instructed that Dummy be killed, but Allamanda threatened to kill herself if Dummy was harmed. Dummy with Nanny's help was made to speak, he told the King that he loved Allamanda and revealed the location of the treasure.

And what of Anancy? Did he win the prize - the money and a Princess to marry? Yes, the King gave him gold and the hand of the ugly Princess Bamboozle! Jack Mandora - me no choose none!
