WOMEN WHO ROAR

WomenWhoRoar

The Heritage Series production “Women Who Roar” focusses on the resilient spirit of “strong Jamma woman”.  Sketches of  trailblazing women including National Heroine Nanny, renowned “Doctoress” Mary Seacole, politician Rose “Madam Rose” Leon, Lady Bustamante, Edna Manley and others are brought to life by the members of the Pantomime Company.

The production also includes the poems "Jamma Ooman" and "Woman Seeking a Job" by the grand dame of Pantomime, the Hon. Louise Bennett Coverley, and "Negro Aroused" by George Campbell.  A special feature is an excerpt from the LTM pantomime “Miss Annie” which depicted the infamous Annie Palmer. There are also stories of everyday Jamaican women who face challenges in their travels abroad to Canada and England.
